This is a Per Diem (PD) position for a Medical Assistant within the EKG/PAT Department at Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center. The role primarily involves day shifts.

Pay Range: The anticipated hourly pay for this position is $24.64 – $27.95.

Job Overview/Responsibilities:
The Medical Assistant will work under the direction of a physician or other health practitioner, performing both routine clinical and clerical tasks. Key responsibilities include:
Clinical Duties:
• Taking and recording vital signs.
• Taking and recording medical histories.
• Preparing patients for examination.
• Drawing blood.
• Processing prescription refills.
• Assisting with minor medical procedures as directed by a physician or health practitioner.
Patient Experience: Acting as a practice ambassador, significantly contributing to the overall patient experience, ensuring patient safety, and maintaining patient privacy.

Required Qualifications:
Education: Possession of a high school diploma or equivalent (GED).
Experience: A minimum of six (6) months to one (1) year of relevant experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Previous medical assistant experience or background is preferred.

Certifications And Licenses Required:
Medical Assistant Certification: Must possess a Nationally Certified Medical Assistant or Registered Medical Assistant certification from one of the following organizations: AMT, NHA, NCCT, AAA, NCMA, AMCA, or NAHP. Candidates who qualify for certification may obtain it within 60 days of hire.
BLS: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.
Continuing Education: The individual is expected to attend classes yearly to educate and improve medical service skills and provide supporting documentation of such attendance.
