Job Title: Medical Assistant

Overview:
The Medical Assistant (MA) role involves performing patient care and administrative/clerical tasks and procedures. These duties are carried out based on the MA’s training, education, and competency evaluations, and are always delegated by and performed under the direct supervision of a Physician, Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant (NP/PA), Registered Nurse (RN), or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN).
Key Responsibilities:
• Patient Care and Procedures: Performs various patient care tasks and procedures.
• Administrative Duties: Carries out administrative and clerical duties as appropriate.
• Safety Assurance: Provides an environment that prioritizes safety; actively identifies, addresses, and integrates principles of safety for patients, visitors, and employees.
• Problem Solving: Demonstrates the ability to objectively assess specific situations from multiple viewpoints, consider various alternatives, assist in developing realistic action plans, and evaluate outcomes.
• Skill Development: Exhibits the development of specific skills and knowledge required for medical assistants.
• Inter-Departmental Interaction: Demonstrates effective interactions with other departments.
• Policy Adherence: Follows department and system policies, procedures, and practices diligently.
• Efficiency: Maintains productivity and efficiency in daily operations.
• Resource Utilization: Utilizes appropriate resources that are safe, effective, ethical, and fiscally responsible.
Requirements:
• Education:
• High School Diploma (HS Diploma) required.
• Certification/Licensure:
• One of the following certifications is required upon hire:
• Certified Medical Assistant (CMA)
• Registered Medical Assistant (RMA)
• Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA)
• EMT Basic Certification (EMT)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required within 90 days of hire.
