Job Description

Job Title: Medical Affairs Strategy Intern (Karyopharm)

Reporting To: Executive Director, US Medical Affairs Strategy

As a Medical Affairs Strategy Intern at Karyopharm, you will gain invaluable experience supporting the Global Medical Affairs Strategy (GMSA) – US Medical Affairs Strategy team. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute significantly to projects that ultimately positively impact patients’ lives by enhancing strategic initiatives in the medical and biotech field.

You will be instrumental in supporting various strategic projects, including content creation for team platforms and dashboards, developing presentation materials, and assisting with initiatives focused on training, performance analysis, and other strategy-related endeavors.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Specialized Disease State Training: Undertake dedicated training to develop a profound understanding of disease states, with a particular focus on Endometrial Carcinoma. This will equip you with foundational medical knowledge relevant to Karyopharm’s therapeutic areas.
  • Platform & Dashboard Management: Collaborate closely with management to diligently update and maintain critical team platforms and dashboards. This includes the hands-on management of Key Opinion Leader (KOL) trackers, initiatives to enhance engagement with clinical trial sites, and the regular updating of medical information and insights.
  • Presentation & Data Preparation: Develop and prepare professional PowerPoint presentations and comprehensive Excel spreadsheets. These materials will be crucial for facilitating team presentations, supporting strategic discussions, and assisting in the execution of various projects.
  • KOL Mapping Enhancement: Focus on expanding and significantly enhancing the existing KOL mapping list for Endometrial Cancer. Your efforts will aim to improve its functionality, applicability, and strategic value for the team.
  • Project Collaboration: Actively participate in diverse and dynamic projects, working collaboratively with members of both the strategy and program teams. You will contribute to assignments that are evolving and require proactive engagement.
  • Educational Content & Event Support: Assist medical leads in the creation of crucial external educational materials. Additionally, you will play a supportive role in the organization and execution of important scientific events such as advisory boards and industry-sponsored symposia.

Qualifications:

  • Academic Focus: Currently pursuing a degree in a business, marketing, healthcare, or biomedical sciences-related field. A demonstrated interest in a career within the medical or biotech industry is essential.
  • Essential Software Skills: Possess a solid foundation and practical experience with both PowerPoint and Excel. The ability to provide examples of your proficiency during the interview process will be highly beneficial.
  • Time Zone Flexibility: Ability to support leadership team members across various US time zones.
  • Remote Work Readiness: Demonstrated proficiency in virtual meeting environments and the ability to effectively complete projects with minimal supervision, showcasing strong self-management skills.

Candidate Profile & Requirements:

  • Internship Dates: Must be available to complete the Karyopharm Internship Program from May 26 – August 7, 2026.
  • Current Enrollment: Currently enrolled as a high school student or a college student in a bachelor’s program.
  • Return to School: Must be returning to school for the Fall Term immediately following the internship.
  • Academic Standing: Maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0.
  • Work Ethic: Highly organized, capable of working effectively both independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Communication: Possess clear, concise verbal and written communication skills.

Compensation:

Karyopharm offers competitive hourly compensation for its internships, ranging from $22 to $30 per hour. The exact pay rate will be determined based on the student’s academic level (e.g., Bachelor’s, Master’s) and year in school.
