Job Description: Mechanical Engineering Intern (Energy & Power)

Jacobs is seeking Mechanical Engineering Interns to join their Energy & Power team at various locations across the US (Austin, TX; Boise, ID; Cary, NC; Denver, CO; Fort Worth, TX; Gainesville, FL). Interns will apply theoretical knowledge to real-world challenges within the energy industry, which is undergoing significant transformation toward greater reliability and sustainability.

Responsibilities:

Interns will support engineering calculations, construction drawings, and specifications for energy and power projects. Specific tasks include:

• Piping and equipment sizing
• Stress analysis
• Flow modeling
• Energy analysis
• Life cycle cost evaluations
• Other detailed engineering calculations

Interns will work with professional engineers, engage with clients, evaluate energy needs, and develop concept-level plans and solutions. They will participate in the entire project lifecycle, from exploration and development to operation and repowering/retirement. The role involves progressing from basic design assignments to more complex projects within a technical team, ensuring the completeness, accuracy, and timeliness of work.

Qualifications:

• Currently enrolled in a degree-seeking program for Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline from an ABET-accredited program.
Highly regarded: Prior design or consulting internships.

Preferred Skills/Experience:

• Familiarity or experience with 3D modeling software (Revit, AutoCAD, CADWorx, NavisWorks)
• Familiarity or experience with hydraulic modeling software (Pipe-Flo or Pipe 2000)
• Familiarity or experience with systems modeling software (Thermoflow or Aspen/Hysys)
