Job Description: Mechanical Engineering Intern (Energy & Power)

Jacobs is seeking Mechanical Engineering Interns to join their Energy & Power team across the country (Austin, TX; Boise, ID; Cary, NC; Denver, CO; Fort Worth, TX; Gainesville, FL). Interns will apply theoretical knowledge to solve real-world challenges in the energy industry. The role involves working on projects that deliver innovative solutions to clients’ challenges locally and worldwide.

Responsibilities:

• Support engineering calculations, construction drawings, and specifications for energy and power projects.
• Participate in piping and equipment sizing, stress analysis, flow modeling, energy analysis, and life cycle cost evaluations.
• Perform detailed engineering calculations.
• Take ownership of the completeness, accuracy, and timeliness of assigned work, progressing from basic to more complex projects within a technical team.
• Engage with clients, evaluate their energy needs, and develop concept-level plans and solutions.
• Work under the mentorship of Professional Engineers.

Jacobs offers an “end-to-end” lifecycle service from exploration, development, operation, and repowering/retirement.

Qualifications:

• Currently enrolled in a degree-seeking program for Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline from an ABET-accredited program.
Highly Regarded: Prior design or consulting internships.
Ideally, candidates will have familiarity or experience with:
• 3D modeling software (Revit, AutoCAD, CADWorx, NavisWorks)
• Hydraulic modeling software (Pipe-Flo, Pipe 2000)
• Systems modeling software (Thermoflow, Aspen/Hysys)
