Job Title: Mechanical Engineering Intern

Audubon is actively seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Mechanical Engineering Intern to join our dynamic team in Tulsa, Oklahoma. This internship offers a unique opportunity for aspiring mechanical engineers to gain practical, hands-on experience within a professional engineering environment, contributing to the design and development of various equipment, components, structures, and systems.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Information Gathering & Specification Development: Proactively gather and meticulously record critical information from diverse sources, including vendor drawings, comprehensive product catalogs, and detailed technical manuals. This information will be instrumental in the accurate and precise development of engineering specifications for ongoing projects.
- Design & Analysis Support: Prepare foundational engineering sketches and perform essential engineering calculations to support various project assignments, contributing directly to the initial design phases.
- Vendor Drawing Review: Conduct thorough reviews of vendor-supplied drawings to ensure full compliance with established project specifications and engineering standards, identifying any discrepancies or areas for improvement.
- Project Tracking & Management: Actively track and maintain awareness of the schedule and budgetary constraints for assigned project components, providing valuable support to project management efforts.
- Quality Assurance & Compliance: Strictly adhere to company quality standards and diligently follow established engineering checking and approval procedures, ensuring the integrity and accuracy of all work produced.
- Health, Safety, Security, and Environmental (HSSE) Compliance: Comply with all company and client HSSE standards, as well as relevant federal and local HSSE regulations, prioritizing a safe working environment.
- Active Safety Participation: Enthusiastically participate in company and client hazard identification and observation programs, and promptly report any unsafe acts, conditions, or incidents to your supervisor to maintain a proactive safety culture.
Experience and Skill Requirements:
- Education: A High School Diploma or GED is required. Preference will be given to candidates who have successfully completed a minimum of two years of university coursework in a mechanical engineering curriculum at an ABET Accredited Institution.
- Problem-Solving Acumen: Demonstrated ability to proactively identify and effectively solve work-related problems, showcasing resourcefulness and analytical thinking.
- Instruction Comprehension: Strong ability to comprehend instructions thoroughly and to request clarification as necessary, ensuring accurate execution of tasks.
- Team Collaboration: Proven ability to work effectively and collaboratively within a team-oriented environment, contributing positively to group objectives.
- Technical Aptitude: Capability to perform basic engineering calculations and analyses, indicating a foundational understanding of mechanical engineering principles.
