Job Title: Mechanical Engineering Intern

Location: Fife, WA (Hybrid work model requiring regular attendance at the Fife, WA office)

Overview:

GFT is seeking a Mechanical Engineering Intern to support various projects within the West Region. The Mechanical team at GFT focuses on creating efficient and innovative solutions for mechanical systems, ensuring comfort and sustainability in projects. The intern will contribute to a resilient and sustainable built environment by working on energy-efficient power systems, advanced HVAC, and plumbing designs, addressing the unique needs of each facility.

Responsibilities:

• Assist experienced Engineers in reviewing and performing engineering calculations.
• Develop design plans under supervision.
• Learn industry-standard software skills.
• Potential opportunities for construction observation and site visits for pre-design scope development.
• Team communication and collaboration for mechanical engineering projects.
• Application of college course material in real-world projects.
• Assembling engineering calculations in a project setting and applying the quality control process.
• Gain familiarity with industry and discipline-specific software, including drafting utilizing AutoCAD and Revit.
• Actively engage multiple perspectives when solving problems, seeks to learn from peers, and encourages reciprocal learning among team members.

Qualifications:

• Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET-accredited university (Junior year or higher preferred).
• Eagerness to learn, be a team player, and enthusiastic attitude.

• Ethical conduct and respect for others.
• Consistent attendance and punctuality.

Compensation:

• Salary range: \$20.00 – \$25.00 per hour, dependent on experience and geographic location.
• Employment Status: Part-Time
• Core Business Hours: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
