Job Description: Mechanical Engineering Co-op

This co-op opportunity is specifically for Mechanical Engineering students with a passion for building design. The program, running January to June or July to December, offers a structured three-phase learning experience:

Phase One: Focuses on acclimation to the consulting engineering workplace, including legal codes, design concepts, and improving skills in AutoCAD and Revit. A mentor provides guidance through observation, instruction, and experience, with open communication encouraged. Site visits and networking opportunities with other co-ops and industry leaders are included, along with lunch-and-learns and company events.

Phase Two: Builds upon Phase One, increasing independence in project work using AutoCAD and Revit, with a continued focus on understanding codes and calculations.

Phase Three: Emphasizes independent work, applying knowledge gained in previous phases to review shop drawing submittals, design layouts, and complete calculations. Continued mentorship and learning from professionals remain key components.

The co-op aims to provide valuable professional work experience, with the goal of offering full-time employment after graduation. The pay rate is $23.00/hour. Benefits include in-house seminars and technical training, lunch-and-learns, paid company holidays (when applicable), paid time off (as per Colorado Sick Time ordinance), wellness programs, booster programs, an employee assistance program, and health insurance (if exceeding 1,560 hours in a 12-month period). The program is specifically a co-op and not an internship; partnership is primarily with universities having Cooperative Education Programs.
