About the Company: CMTA, a Legence Company
CMTA is highlighted as one of the fastest-growing engineering firms in the U.S., possessing nationally recognized expertise in sustainable, high-performance building engineering. The company culture is described as collaborative, competitive, innovative, and energetic, with a focus on a holistic approach to consulting engineering, performance contracting, and zero energy projects. CMTA aims to find engineers who demonstrate excellence and provides significant opportunities for its employees.
The Energy Solutions division of CMTA specializes in delivering Guaranteed Energy Savings Performance Contracts (ESPCs). These contracts are presented as a method to upgrade and renovate facilities in a budget-neutral or even budget-positive manner by redirecting existing utility expenses towards facility improvements. The comprehensive process involved in ESPCs covers:
• Scope development
• Design
• Bidding
• Construction management
• Commissioning
• Measurement and verification
• Ongoing energy management services
CMTA boasts unparalleled knowledge in the Guaranteed ESPC market, having designed some of the nation’s most energy-efficient buildings, including many zero-energy projects.
Legence, CMTA’s parent company and a Blackstone Portfolio Company, is positioned as North America’s leading integrated provider of energy efficiency and sustainability solutions for the built environment. Legence’s mission is to improve building performance, making spaces healthier and more sustainable. They focus on helping clients reduce operating costs, decrease carbon emissions, and enhance occupant well-being and productivity. Legence offers a comprehensive suite of “Stackable Solutions” across the entire building lifecycle, from advisory services and design to construction and ongoing maintenance. With over a century of experience, Legence serves industry leaders in mission-critical and other essential sectors like data centers, semiconductors, life sciences, healthcare, and education.
About the Job: Mechanical Co-op Program
CMTA Energy Solutions offers a robust co-op program specifically for college students pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering. This is an immersive, hands-on experience in Guaranteed Energy Savings Performance Contracting, typically for two or more semesters.

• Co-ops will be involved with multiple Guaranteed Energy Savings Performance Contracts, playing a role in every stage of their development, from initial conceptualization through implementation. This offers a wide variety of valuable experiences.
• Specific hands-on experience includes working with photovoltaic systems, LED lighting designs, HVAC systems (like geothermal), and building automation systems.
• By the end of the program, co-ops will have gained experience that provides a significant head start in the Energy Service Company (ESCO) industry and the potential to join one of the country’s fastest-growing ESCOs.
Job Functions (may include but are not limited to):
• Assisting in all aspects of the project development phase, including site visits, building audits, and energy calculations.
• Generating energy models and performing calculations to evaluate the feasibility of identified energy savings measures.

• Assembling organized sets of project drawings and documents.
• Collecting and analyzing energy data, often involving field verification.
• Working collaboratively with designers and professional engineers on all aspects of a project.
Requirements:
• Currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering (BSME).
