Position Summary:

CMTA offers a robust co-op program designed for college students pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering or Architectural Engineering, providing an opportunity to immerse themselves in the consulting engineering world. This full-time, onsite co-op position offers unique hands-on training in mechanical/HVAC/Energy design for the built environment. Co-ops will build industry-competitive skills in a hands-on environment, working on real CMTA projects, and receiving training from Professional Engineers in AutoCAD and Revit. This is an exceptional opportunity to work on challenging and complex MEP projects and become an important part of our design team, with the potential for multiple rotations and consideration for full-time employment upon graduation.

Key Responsibilities (Job Functions):
(May include but are not limited to)

  • Produce detailed layout and equipment details of HVAC systems.
  • Produce one-line diagrams/schematics.
  • Assist the design team in the process of assembling organized sets of drawings.
  • May assist in data collection and/or field verification.
  • Work in conjunction with designers and engineers to help develop all aspects of a project.

Program Details:

  • Start Date: August 2026 (flexible with school calendar)
  • Duration: Through Fall 2026, with the hope for multiple co-op rotations.
  • Schedule: Full-time (40 hours/week), onsite position.
  • Compensation: Competitive hourly pay rate, eligible for overtime pay.
  • Future Opportunity: Possible consideration for full-time employment upon graduation after successful co-op rotations.

Required Qualifications:

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Architectural Engineering.
  • Preferably a sophomore (2nd year) or junior (3rd year) student.
  • Strong interest in Building Systems Mechanical Engineering.
  • AutoCAD and REVIT experience preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Ability to work both independently and with a team.
  • Ability to work full time in our office throughout the co-op term.
  • Ability to travel locally for job site inspections, field work, etc.
