About the Job

BASF’s Leadership Development Programs (LDPs) were created to provide highly motivated, mobile-minded current university students an opportunity to enhance their professional skills through a variety of diverse learning experiences. The MBA LDP internship is a precursor to our rotational program, which combines hands-on experience, both technically and strategically, with unparalleled networking opportunities designed to accelerate your career development at BASF.

Program Summary:

This internship offers graduate students the opportunity to spend a summer working at one of BASF’s US locations, applying their education and background to challenging assignments to build general management skills.

As a highly motivated graduate student, you will participate in a 10- to 12-week internship at one of BASF’s US locations, including New Jersey, Michigan, North Carolina, Texas, and Louisiana.

Interns will complete various projects, designed and planned to enhance your career development and deliver immediate value to BASF.
Projects may include:

• Preparing operational plans
• Market research
• Break-even analysis
• Acquisitions
• Divestitures

Previous internship assignments include:

• Creating a divisional supplier development program
• Creating a go-to-market strategy for a new product line
• Developing a sustainability roadmap and detailed growth strategy for a product line
• Conducting market research and commercialization analysis for a product line

Successfully engaging across the business throughout your internship will expand your network, allow you to grow personally and professionally, and learn a variety of valuable skill sets.

Upon completion of the internship program, you will have the opportunity to present your summer project to other interns, BASF employees, and senior leaders.

All interns will be assessed throughout the summer for a full time offer for our 2-year rotational program.

Formula for Success…

• 1st year MBA students pursuing a career in General Management with an interest in the Manufacturing/Chemical industry
• Graduation date must fall between December 2026 – August 2027
• Minimum of 3 years’ work experience & maximum of 6 years’ work experience
• Undergraduate Business or Technical Degree preferred
• Commitment to relocate anywhere in the U.S. during and upon placement from the program. All internships are in-person/hybrid.
• Authorization to work in the U.S. without restrictions or need for future sponsorship now or at any point in the future
• Demonstrated previous leadership & academic achievement
• Ability to work in a technical environment
• Excellent communication skills
• Strong project management experience
• Previous experience in the manufacturing/chemical/industrial space a plus
