Job Description: May 2026 Intern – Tax

This internship position, located in Green Bay, Wisconsin, offers a hybrid work arrangement, combining remote work with time spent on-site in the Green Bay office. The role is full-time during the Summer of 2026, with the potential to transition to part-time during subsequent academic year(s). The hourly rate for this position ranges from $20.30 to $23.43, with paid company holidays. The starting pay within this range will be determined by factors such as relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, and business needs.

Job Summary:
The Tax team at WEC Energy Group is responsible for the overall corporate tax function across all of the company’s entities. This comprehensive function includes:
Federal and state tax return preparation.
Tax audit administration.
Tax accounting for SEC filings.
Estimated tax payments.
Tax software administration.
• Support for forecasting and rate cases.
• Overall tax planning for the organization.

The intern’s role is to assist in any area of the tax function as needed. The position requires strong analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills, along with the ability to work effectively as part of a team and interact with others.

Job Responsibilities (Intern):
Gain knowledge of the complex area of Tax.
Learn and become proficient in tax software as needed.
Assist in the preparation of various federal and state tax return compliance.
Assist in the process of estimating all taxes to support the company’s financial forecast, which in turn aids earnings guidance and certain regulatory filings.
Support tax audit administration as needed, which includes collecting and summarizing data.
Support internal control compliance to ensure accurate tax accounting, including monthly tasks such as account reconciliations, and other quarterly and annual requests.

Minimum Qualifications:
High School Diploma, GED, or HSED.
• Currently enrolled full-time pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting, Business, Finance, Analytics, or a closely related major.
• A graduation date after June 2026.
• A minimum GPA of 2.8.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Proficiency with Microsoft Suite experience (Excel, etc.).
• Prior experience in Accounting or Finance.
• Prior experience with process improvement/automation (Alteryx).
