Job Description (Detailed)
• Position Title: May 2026 Intern – Tax
• Employer: WBS, a subsidiary of WEC Energy Group
• Location: Green Bay, Wisconsin
• Work Arrangement: This position offers flexibility for a hybrid work arrangement (remote/on-site) with time spent in the Green Bay, Wisconsin office.
• Internship Duration: Full-time during the Summer of 2026 with the potential to work part-time during the subsequent academic year(s).
• Hourly Rate: The hourly rate for this position ranges from $20.30 to $23.43, with paid company holidays. The starting pay within the range will be based on factors such as education, qualifications, experience, and skills, and it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range.
• Application Deadline: The end date for applications is November 15, 2025, though this date may be modified or applications discontinued if deemed necessary. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis, with interviews commencing after submission for qualified candidates.
• Job Summary: The Tax team at WEC Energy Group is responsible for the overall corporate tax function across all its entities. This comprehensive role includes federal and state tax return preparation, tax audit administration, tax accounting for SEC filings, estimated tax payments, tax software administration, support for forecasting and rate cases, and overall tax planning for the organization. This intern position is designed to provide assistance in any area of the tax function as needed. The role requires strong analysis, decision-making, and problem-solving skills, along with the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and interact effectively with others.
• Job Responsibilities:
• Gain knowledge of the complex area of Tax.
• Learn and become proficient in tax software as needed.
• Assist in the preparation of various federal and state tax return compliance documents.
• Assist in the process of estimating all taxes to support the company’s financial forecast, which in turn supports earnings guidance and certain regulatory filings.
• Support tax audit administration as needed (e.g., collect and summarize data).
• Support internal control compliance as needed to ensure accurate tax accounting, including monthly tasks such as account reconciliations, and other quarterly and annual requests.
• Minimum Qualifications:
• High School Diploma, GED, or HSED.
• Currently enrolled full-time pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting, Business, Finance, Analytics, or a closely related major.
• A graduation date after June 2026.
• A minimum GPA of 2.8.
• Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience with Microsoft Suite (especially Excel).
• Prior experience in Accounting or Finance.
• Prior experience with process improvement/automation tools (e.g., Alteryx).
