About the job

The Materials Engineer, Physical Infrastructure role at Google is responsible for providing technical leadership in materials science and engineering for IT physical infrastructure and systems, working with multiple cross-functional internal teams and external ecosystem partners. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design, or related field, or equivalent practical experience, as well as 8 years of experience designing mechanical components such as plastic or metal parts, mechanical assemblies, printed circuit boards, or flexes. Experience in materials science and engineering applied to research and product development is also required.

In this role, you will lead and support execution of critical deliverables, particularly for materials development and engineering for IT products and systems. You will also develop new approaches to optimize and improve the development and qualification process of materials engineering for IT machines and physical infrastructure (e.g., cooling, power, mechanical). Additionally, you will incubate new materials technologies and use cases, and contribute to physical infrastructure roadmap and architecture development.
