Job Description

About the Job: Marketing Intern at Sapling 🌱

Sapling is an innovative AI study companion designed to revolutionize how students learn and prepare for exams. Our platform transforms your knowledge into a live, interactive graph, color-coded by mastery, making it impossible to ignore your learning gaps. This means no more guessing what to study. Beyond an AI tutor, Sapling is a vibrant social platform where students can interact, teach each other, generate personalized study guides, take quick quizzes on weak spots, and even pull deadlines directly from their syllabus. Think of it as the study group you always wished you had, supercharged by AI.

We’re rapidly approaching our closed beta, experiencing fast growth, and are on the lookout for a talented Marketing Intern to help us connect with the students who need us most. This is a unique opportunity to shape Sapling’s initial public perception, influencing how the world first experiences our product. You’ll be instrumental in crafting compelling videos, writing engaging posts, defining our brand voice, and driving the growth that will propel us from beta to a successful launch.

This isn’t your typical “make the Canva post and schedule it” internship. You’ll be given significant ownership over Sapling’s aesthetic, messaging, and outreach strategies, making a tangible impact on our trajectory.

Hard Requirements:

  • Based in Boston: Boston University students are strongly preferred. This role involves crucial on-campus outreach, in-person collaboration, and being present where students actually are.
  • Unpaid Position: Please note that this is an unpaid internship.
  • Current Undergrad Student: Applicants must be current undergraduate students for the entire duration of the internship.

Duration:

Summer 2026 to Fall 2026

What You’ll Actually Be Doing:

  • Video Production: Editing and producing short-form videos, product trailers, and feature spotlights that truly capture attention and make people stop scrolling. We’re looking for personality and soul, not just corporate polish (proficiency in tools like Adobe Premiere, DaVinci Resolve, etc., is valuable). Product trailers will require a higher level of polish, showcasing the product with clean renders, crisp white-background sequences, and intentional, high-quality motion.
  • Direct Student Outreach: Engaging directly with students through Boston University campus organizations, collaborating with student influencers, and reaching out in both online spaces and physical locations across the greater Boston area where students spend their time.
  • Brand Identity Maintenance: Ensuring a tight, consistent brand identity across all content we produce. This includes maintaining uniformity in colors, tone, typography, and motion style. Every piece of content should feel unmistakably Sapling and align with a consistent branding portfolio for all forms of media (graphic design, UI/UX, product identity, animations).
  • Authentic Content Creation: Developing content that genuinely resonates with student life, earning engagement because of its authenticity rather than merely following a template.
  • Social Campaign Management: Running social media campaigns, meticulously tracking their performance, and iterating based on what truly drives engagement and growth.
  • Brand Voice Definition: Playing a key role in defining our brand voice from scratch during these crucial early stages, where your input will have a lasting impact.

You Might Be a Great Fit If:

  • You possess a strong portfolio that demonstrates brand consistency across multiple formats (video, graphics, copy) and you can articulate the strategic decisions behind your work.
  • You genuinely understand what students find entertaining, relatable, and shareable online, because you live and breathe student culture.
  • You have prior video editing experience and a strong grasp of pacing, effective hooks, and what makes content feel vibrant and engaging.
  • You follow current trends closely but also have the foresight and creativity to lead rather than simply follow.
  • You are comfortable with AI tools and possess a keen curiosity about how they can enhance creative workflows.
  • You are driven by a desire to build something impactful and real, beyond just adding a line to your resume.

Details:

  • Type: In-Person (Boston) · Internship
  • Team: Growth team
  • Location: Boston University
