Marketing Intern Job Description
This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain practical experience in the field of marketing by working closely with the Marketing Manager at Radford University. The intern will be involved in various aspects of promoting the dining program, including:
• Research: Understanding the needs and preferences of the target market (students).
• Planning & Brainstorming: Developing innovative ideas for promoting the dining program.
• Promotions & Advertising: Creating and implementing promotions and advertisements across different platforms.
• Implementation: Bringing marketing strategies to life and overseeing their execution.
This is not a traditional internship. Interns will be given the chance to spearhead projects and request assignments that expand their knowledge base. It’s a great opportunity for anyone with a passion for marketing.
Key Responsibilities:
• Assisting with planning, organizing, and hosting events.
• Supporting the “Dine on Campus” initiative.
• Helping with social media calendar development and promotions.
• Acting as a brand representative.
• Conducting marketing audits.
• Completing general administrative tasks.
• Participating in Marketing Boot Camp.
• Surveying students for marketing research.
• Creating marketing materials to various specifications.
• Managing signage in multiple locations.
• Assisting with the creation of marketing concepts, campaigns, and imagery.
• Managing website and social media content.
• Attending meetings and events as required.
Learning Objectives:
• Developing awareness, understanding, and skills for working in a diverse environment.
• Learning how to create and implement a marketing plan.
• Learning how to conduct market research and use it to generate a larger audience or increase buy-in.
• Learning how to effectively promote a brand using multiple platforms and strategies.
Requirements:
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Customer service experience and knowledge.
• Knowledge of social media platforms.
• Strong interpersonal skills.
• General interest and knowledge in marketing.
• Knowledge of graphic design tools is a plus.
• Prior marketing-related experience is a plus.
