Job Description:
This is a seasonal, in-person internship position for a Marketing & Events Intern. The intern will report to both the Marketing Manager and the Events Manager.
Purpose and Suitability:
The role offers an exciting opportunity to learn from and contribute to the development of a recognized Philadelphia town brand. It is suited for students pursuing a degree in marketing, advertising, communication, or hospitality. The program accepts one student intern per season/school semester.
Duration:
The Fall Event Marketing Internship typically runs from early September through mid-late December, with exact dates dependent on the student’s semester and/or school travel schedule.
Key Responsibilities Include:
• EVENT PLANNING:
• Assisting with all fall events, including Out & About, Manayunk Fall Fest, Halloween in MNYK, the Tree Lighting Ceremony, and Holiday Light Nights.
• Helping with pre-planning, vendor/sponsor outreach, and day-of-event logistics.
• MARKETING:
• Assisting with updates to the Manayunk.com website with relevant event information.
• Contributing to the quarterly Manayunk Magazine, MNYK Blog, and newsletter by writing and editing content.
• PUBLIC RELATIONS:
• Assisting with press outreach and event calendar listings for all Manayunk events.
• Managing content and design of monthly newsletters through the Constant Contact email system to keep merchants and visitors informed.
• Helping track all Manayunk press.
• SOCIAL MEDIA:
• Assisting the Marketing Coordinator and Social Media Manager with all social media accounts (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, TikTok).
• Creating unique content and scheduling posts following social media schedules and campaigns for each event.
• Overseeing ongoing social media campaigns and helping develop new content.
General Intern Responsibilities:
• Proficient use of Canva, Constant Contact, and Hootsuite.
• Assisting in gathering content for the weekly newsletter.
• Demonstrating strong written communication skills with a keen sense of grammar and spelling.
• Contributing innovative ideas for new projects.
• Communicating effectively with local businesses.
• Conducting Social Media Market Research.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Prior experience in marketing, event planning, and/or social media marketing.
Mandatory Requirements:
The intern MUST:
• Be a self-starter who works well in collaborative settings.
• Be a creative individual who can work in a creative team environment.
• Have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Have an outgoing personality and be able to interact with business owners and event vendors.
• Possess great attention to detail and organization skills.
• Be comfortable commuting to the office and working on-site.
Work Environment and Hours:
This is an in-person internship located at the office in Philadelphia. The intern will work approximately 10 hours per week, in addition to time spent at events.
