Marketing & Communications Intern | Joby Aviation
The Tone:
This is an internship at Joby Aviation, located in Marina, CA. Joby is pioneering electric air travel, developing a piloted air taxi designed for vertical take-off and quiet flight over congested cities. Since 2009, Joby has been working to make this dream a reality and is now in the final stages of certifying its aircraft with the FAA, with commercial launch planned for the US and Dubai. This role is crucial for supporting high-visibility projects across marketing, communications, and operations as the company scales manufacturing and prepares for service launch, offering hands-on experience at the forefront of defining the future of electric air travel.

• Team: Reports directly to the Digital Engagement Lead and collaborates cross-functionally with legal, policy, and brand partners to achieve project goals.
• Mission: To provide crucial support across high-visibility projects in consumer research, brand merchandise, content creation, communications, and policy, directly contributing to Joby Aviation’s preparation for its commercial service launch.
What You’ll Actually Do
• Consumer Research & Survey Management: Serve as primary project manager for the LA vertiport consumer feedback survey initiative, owning the end-to-end collection effort to gather 2,000 completed surveys across various channels, then synthesizing and presenting the findings to the broader organization.
• Communications Reference Database: Help build and maintain a centralized database of verified facts, sources, and references specifically for use in public-facing communications, establishing a critical resource for the communications and legal teams.
• Policy & Advocacy Support: Partner directly with the policy team to ensure they possess the necessary digital and print resources required to effectively support their ongoing advocacy efforts.
• Merchandise & Brand Products: Support the external merchandise store by focusing on sourcing product samples and actively identifying opportunities for new brand product releases targeted for Q4.
• On-Site Production Support: Provide comprehensive on-site support for content production at Joby’s Marina and Watsonville facilities for key content initiatives, including shoot logistics, production coordination, and direct assistance for video and photo capture.
