Job Description

Job Title: Marketing and Design Intern
Job Type: Internship (Fall/Winter Season)
Pay: $17–$19 per hour

This internship at the West Fargo Park District is designed for a creative and motivated individual passionate about graphic design, content creation, and community engagement. The role offers valuable hands-on experience in marketing and design.

Reporting Structure: The Marketing and Design Intern will work closely with the Marketing and Events Supervisor, Marketing Communications Specialist, and Marketing Recreation Specialist.

Work Schedule: This is a part-time position, requiring 25-30 hours per week, with the possibility of extending up to 35 hours. The role requires flexibility to work some evenings and weekends to capture event photos and assist with community events.

Key Responsibilities:

• Marketing and Design:
• Create visually appealing marketing materials, including digital signs, social media graphics, posters, and flyers.
• Assist with the creation of videos and photos to promote events and programs.
• Ensure brand consistency across all marketing materials and platforms.
• Social Media and Content Creation:
• Execute social media strategies by creating engaging posts, videos, and captions across platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok.
• Create and distribute monthly newsletters and community updates.
• Capture photos at events and programs for use on social media, the website, and other marketing materials.
• Event Support:
• Assist with event set-up, tear-down, and execution.
• Design and manage event signage to enhance the participant experience.
• Community Outreach and Administrative Support:
• Distribute promotional materials throughout the community.
• Assist with daily administrative tasks within the marketing department.
• Maintain and update information centers and facility signage at various Park District locations (Rustad, Veterans Memorial Arena, warming houses, splash pads, pools), which may include bathroom ads, hours of operation, upcoming events, and other notices.

Qualifications:

• Education: Currently enrolled in a bachelor’s degree program in Communications, Marketing, Graphic Design, or a related field.
• Skills: Demonstrated strong communication and design skills. Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) or similar tools like Canva and Microsoft Office is essential.
• Experience: Previous experience in marketing, social media management, graphic design, or event planning is a plus but not required.
• Physical Requirements: Ability to work both indoors and outdoors, including in various weather conditions, particularly during events.
• Other Requirements: Must be available to work throughout the fall/winter season, including some nights and weekends.
