Marketing and Business Development Intern – Innovative Carbon Tech

Calgon Carbon Corporation is seeking a dynamic and motivated college student for our 2026 Internship program, commencing on June 1, 2026.

Location: Headquarters – Moon Township, PA
Hours: Full-time, generally Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM-5:00 PM

Overview:

This internship offers real-world experience, enabling future professionals to apply academic learning to practical situations within a career field they are pursuing. Interns will gain additional skills applicable to future jobs.

The Drinking Water Solutions (DWS) Business Line presents numerous opportunities for growth. The Intern will develop a basic understanding of activated carbon technologies and solutions, with a primary focus on drinking water treatment. Support will be provided on various projects, including:

  • Market research and data analysis
  • Competitive analysis
  • Market landscape assessment (including future outlook)
  • Marketing collateral and campaigns
  • Marketing and reference tools in digital platforms (social media, Adobe, Canva, etc.)

Additionally, the Intern will gain valuable experience in researching new market opportunities using databases, historical information, and the internet, potentially engaging with customers and handling basic inquiries.

Duties And Responsibilities (not Limited To):

  • Gain functional knowledge of granular activated carbon (GAC), treatment equipment, and their mechanisms.
  • Understand the application of GAC in the Drinking Water market to provide detailed support and respond to basic website and email inquiries regarding products and applications.
  • Develop and utilize reports within SalesForce for tracking and updating open opportunities.
  • Complete special projects and provide support to the Marketing, Business Development, Sales, and Product Management Teams.
  • Participate in and organize marketing campaigns with a key focus on data analysis and increasing sales.
  • Engage prospective customers and handle basic questions related to carbon technology.
  • Refresh marketing collateral and perform technical editing (e.g., tech notes, articles, data sheets, case studies).
  • Collaborate on detailing updated drinking water regulations for different contaminants (including PFAS) by state and determine strategic outreach approaches.
  • Work with the marketing team to develop and organize information related to competition by Competitor, Product, and Technology.
  • Research new customers and develop a list of opportunities and contacts.
  • Analyze business development and marketing data as needed, providing suggestions or recommendations.

  • Software proficiency in MS Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams, Adobe, SalesForce, Canva, etc.
  • Proficiency in market research and competitive analysis, including interpreting patterns and trends, sentiment analysis, and segmentation.

Working towards a bachelor’s degree or higher in:

  • Chemistry
  • Engineering
  • Marketing
  • Business
  • Other Technical Degree
