Job Description
Manufacturing Maintenance Specialist Intern
Location: South Portland, Maine
Shift: Work 12-hour shifts on a fixed, compressed schedule, allowing for 3-4 days off in a row and built-in overtime.
Responsibilities:
• Execute scheduled maintenance.
• Track and assemble all parts required to complete maintenance ahead of time.
• Complete qualifications required to bring equipment fully out of maintenance state and into production.
• Track critical data from performed maintenance to define improvement opportunities for optimal preventive maintenance performance.
• Perform routine maintenance, inspections, and repairs on production equipment.
• Conduct preventive maintenance to prevent breakdowns and minimize downtime.
Minimum Requirements:
• High School graduate or GED
• Ability to demonstrate hands-on mechanical maintenance or repair experience
• Knowledge of or experience in using basic hand tools
• Flexible to work days, nights, or weekends and holidays
• Must be at least 18 years of age
Preferred Qualifications:
• Prior experience in production maintenance
• Ability to read, understand, and create mechanical prints/schematics
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
• Strong interest in and capability of performing mechanical and maintenance activities on tool sets
• Commitment to working via a highly standardized set of instructions is required
• Effective teaming with both engineering and manufacturing teams is required
• Experience with Excel and PowerPoint is a plus
• Excellent organizational and teaming skills
• Ability to work in teams and collaborate effectively with people in different functions
• Ability to take the initiative and drive for results
• Ability to work effectively in an interrupt-driven, fast-paced, and rapidly changing environment
