Description – Manufacturing Intern (Summer 2025)
This internship provides an opportunity to gain practical experience in various aspects of manufacturing while contributing to the daily operations of CesiumAstro. It is an ideal opportunity for those interested in a career in manufacturing or process improvement.
Responsibilities:
• Collaborate with the manufacturing engineering team to identify areas for process optimization and efficiency enhancement.
• Assist in troubleshooting and resolving production issues using engineering principles and problem-solving skills.
• Create and maintain detailed manufacturing process documentation, including standard operating procedures (SOPs), work instructions, and process flowcharts.
• Collect and analyze data from manufacturing processes to identify trends and improvement areas.
• Assist in quality control activities, including inspections, testing, and root cause analysis for non-conforming products.
• Learn and apply lean manufacturing principles to streamline production processes and reduce waste.
• Stay updated on industry trends and emerging technologies to bring innovative ideas to the team.
Requirements:
• Current enrollment in an Associate’s, Bachelor’s, or Master’s program in Manufacturing, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field at an accredited institution.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for assessing and improving manufacturing processes.
• Basic understanding of manufacturing processes, CAD software, and engineering principles.
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment, share ideas, and contribute to collective goals.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills for collaborating with cross-functional teams and presenting findings.
• High level of attention to detail to ensure accuracy in process documentation and quality control activities.
• Willingness to learn and adapt to changing priorities and project requirements.
• Proactive and self-motivated with a desire to take on new challenges and responsibilities.
Preferred Experience:
• Familiarity with electronics assemblies
• Experience with SMT methods
• Experience with CNC manufacturing
