Program Overview:

The Acuity Brands Internship Program is a 10–12-week experience (May – August, 40 hours/week) designed to develop high-potential candidates into impactful leaders. This program provides hands-on experiences that connect interns’ strengths and interests with the needs of the business, particularly for those looking to develop into marketing leaders.

Interns will make an impact through participation in key projects and transformative processes, while also having opportunities to mentor and network with leaders throughout Acuity Brands.

Leadership Program Pathway: It is preferred for interns to have only one or two semesters left in their degree program. This allows them to be considered for Acuity’s full-time, entry-level Leadership Program immediately following the internship. The Leadership Program is a rotational program designed for recent graduates to explore different areas within a functional area, grow their skill set, network, and discover their passions early in their careers.

Work Flexibility:

  • Onsite – Crawfordsville, IN

Key Tasks & Responsibilities:

While specific projects and activities may vary, interns can expect to:

  • Apply Lean tools for process improvement.
  • Identify and eliminate waste in various processes.
  • Develop and implement modified Standard Work procedures.
  • Design and implement assembly jigs.
  • Assist with improvements to capacity model accuracy.
  • Work with the team on autonomation projects to enhance capacity, potentially involving buffer upgrades and implementation of smart cell upgrades for quality.
  • Update facility layouts, including lighting layouts, camera layouts, and changes due to equipment and cell moves.

Education:

  • Minimum Education Required: Some College
  • Preferred Education: Pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.

Experience:

In addition to pursuing a degree from an accredited college or university, qualified interns will have:

  • Relevant internship or project experience.
  • A minimum GPA of 3.0.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proven problem-solving capabilities.
  • Strong time management and prioritization skills.
  • Experience leading teams or organizations.

Physical Requirements:

  • Medium work/some lifting required/standing and walking for extended periods.
