Job Description:
Manufacturing Engineer Intern at OSW Equipment & Repair, a subsidiary of Federal Signal, in Snohomish, WA.
As a Manufacturing Engineer Intern you will be responsible for manufacturing process improvement, assisting with activities related to defining the production process to be used and to support process changes designed to improve safety, quality, and manufacturing efficiency throughout the manufacturing area, utilizing lean manufacturing techniques.
Duties/Responsibilities:
• Assist with process improvement initiatives including process experimentation, design, optimization, control, and process definition & documentation to reduce waste and achieve continuous improvement and ultimately lead to quantum leap cost reductions.
• Assist with manufacturing initiatives to improve safety, reduce cycle times, improve productivity, create and find capacity, improve process reliability, and improve customer satisfaction with respect to quality, on time delivery, and yields.
• Develop, maintain, and deploy standard work for all processes. Work with Manufacturing Engineer and other leaders to help assure operator training and proficiency.
• Assist with and execute process engineering changes, and review process to include control over process parameters, process methods, tooling, etc.
• Perform other duties and assignments as assigned.
Qualifications:
• In progress of a Bachelor’s degree in manufacturing engineering or related studies
• Advanced computer skills (Proficiency in MS Word, Excel & PowerPoint preferred)
• Must be self-motivated, have a high sense of urgency, be able to problem solve complex situations, be resourceful.
• Be a team player working with co-workers, other departments and/or other TBEI facilities. The focus is on meeting company goals and initiatives.
Physical Requirements:
• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• Ability to walk and stand on concrete in a variety of positions including but not limited to kneeling, crouching, bending, twisting, turning, and occasionally climbing.
• Lift up to 25lbs unassisted.
• Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times.
Additional Job Information:
• Wage Expectations: $23.00 – 26.00 / hour
• Pay: This is a non-exempt, hourly position and employees are paid on a bi-weekly basis
• Typical Schedule: Five (5) Eight (8) hour days M-F
• Location: On Site – 20812 Broadway Ave; Snohomish, WA 98296
• Travel: Very minimal to none
