Manager – Accounting Advisory (Operational Accounting/Controller) | CrossCountry Consulting

The Tone:
This is a full-time role at CrossCountry Consulting, located in California for hybrid work. The TL;DR

• Pay: $98,000–$206,000 yearly + annual bonus + additional benefits

What You’ll Actually Do
• General Accounting & Close Support: Lead clients in developing streamlined monthly close processes, managing cash-to-accrual conversions, and overseeing balance sheet reconciliations.
• Financial Reporting Support: Improve financial planning and analysis through budgeting, forecasting, and data analytics, including supporting SEC and regulatory reporting requirements.
• Operational Accounting & Transformation: Advise clients on leveraging AI and automation to streamline close processes, improve forecasting, and enhance data-driven decision making, collaborating on ERP implementations and finance transformation initiatives.
• Client & Project Leadership: Communicate effectively with clients regarding project findings, recommendations, and status updates, while overseeing project administration including planning, budgeting, and account management.
• Team Mentorship: Mentor team members through coaching, regular feedback, performance evaluations, and development opportunities, helping resolve complex accounting and operational issues.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, with experience in advisory, technical accounting, and/or controllership functions.
• Experience: 5+ years of experience spanning advisory, technical accounting, and/or controllership functions with commercial organizations or PE-backed portfolio companies, including prior experience in professional services (public accounting, advisory firm, or management consulting firm).
• Skills: Strong operational and technical accounting background, including researching complex accounting issues and implementing accounting policies; strong client relationship management and communication skills; demonstrated ability to responsibly explore and adopt firm-approved AI tools to enhance productivity and innovation; experience mentoring and developing junior team members.
• Bonus: CPA or CA certification; experience supporting transactions related to mergers and acquisitions, divestitures, carve-outs, spin-offs, or IPOs; exposure to Software/SaaS, Healthcare, or other B2B industries; willingness to travel domestically up to 30%.
