Job Description:

This is a part-time position for a student, offering hands-on experience in a maintenance environment under the guidance of experienced technicians. The role provides an introduction to a variety of maintenance skills and equipment, along with safety protocols and company procedures.

Key Learning Areas:

Machine/Tool Safety: Understand the importance of safety in all maintenance functions, specific to machines and tools.
Equipment Introduction: Get acquainted with major equipment like lathes, mills, secondary equipment, cranes, and various hand/power tools.
Technical Skills: Introduction to reading blueprints, understanding hydraulics, basic electrical controls, different types of welding, and fabrication techniques, and carpentry skills.
Software Familiarity: Introduction to the SAP program.
Maintenance Planning: Reviewing maintenance planning, work orders, and preventative maintenance schedules.
Performance Measurement: Learn about Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for the maintenance function and their connection to overall company goals.
Compliance: Complies with Safety and Quality requirements.
Quality System: Perform assigned quality system functions as specified in QMS procedures.
Environmental, Health, and Safety: Observe established EHS regulations, procedures, and practices.
Assistance: Assists other departments as required.

Hours and Schedule:

• Minimum of 15 hours per week.
• Flexible hours to accommodate school schedules.

Requirements:

• Currently enrolled in high school.
• Enrollment in a trade school curriculum is preferred.

Physical Requirements:

• The work environment is usually loud; hearing protection is provided and required.
• Exposure to fumes, coolant, or airborne particles is occasional, and the work involves proximity to moving mechanical parts.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds regularly.
• Ability to perform excessive walking, standing, bending, climbing, reaching, grasping, and lifting.
• Ability to visually inspect parts and use measuring gauges.
• Ability to run machines and equipment safely and efficiently.
