Job Summary
The Maintenance and Grounds Technician performs the essential maintenance and improvement operations for our facilities and grounds, including crucial preventative maintenance. This position is primarily responsible for ensuring that the building and its entire surroundings are consistently clean, well-maintained, and presentable. Key areas of responsibility include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Landscaping and exterior grounds
- Parking lots and outdoor fields
- Interior spaces such as locker rooms, bathrooms, lobbies, bleachers, and hallways
- All other assigned areas requiring upkeep and maintenance
Qualifications
- Age: Minimum of 21 years of age.
- Education: High School Diploma/GED preferred.
- Driver’s License: Possess a valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record in accordance with the association’s driving standards.
- Experience: 3 years of relevant experience in maintenance or groundskeeping preferred.
- Technical Knowledge (Preferred): Working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems, carpentry, and other general maintenance-related areas.
- Reading Comprehension: Ability to read and interpret instructions, procedures, manuals, and other relevant documents accurately.
- Physical Requirements: Sufficient physical strength and agility to safely and effectively carry out all essential duties of the position.
- Availability: Ability to work nights and weekends as required by facility needs and operational schedules.
Essential Functions
- Independent Work & Reporting: Ability to work independently, taking initiative on tasks, while promptly advising management or appropriate staff on significant maintenance or equipment issues.
- Custodial Cleaning: Perform all cleaning and upkeep tasks rigorously according to the established custodial cleaning schedule and facility needs, ensuring the entire facility and its surroundings are maintained in a clean, respectable, and hygienic condition.
- Grounds Equipment Operation: Ability to safely and proficiently operate various grounds equipment, including but not limited to Lawn Mowers, Weed Wackers, and Salt Spreaders.
- Exterior Maintenance: Ability to perform comprehensive grounds maintenance tasks such as grass cutting, weed spraying/pulling, power washing, and performing snow removal and other general labor as required by seasonal changes or specific needs.
- Deep Cleaning Projects: Willingness and ability to operate specialized floor and carpet machines to perform deep cleans and heavy-duty projects, including tasks like floor waxing, carpet extraction, and tile and grout cleaning.
- Parking Lot & Exterior Upkeep: Proactively maintain parking lots and all exterior grounds, ensuring they are free from trash and debris.
- Event Support: Provide active assistance with event setups and tear-downs, which includes moving tables, chairs, and various equipment.
- Mobility: Have the ability and willingness to move efficiently between multiple buildings, branches, or designated zones as operational needs dictate.
- Other Duties: Diligently complete all other duties as assigned by management to ensure smooth facility operations.
