Job Description: Machine Repair Mechanic
Boeing Commercial Airplanes is seeking skilled Machine Repair Mechanics for their Puget Sound region locations in Washington State.
Job Responsibilities:
• Troubleshooting and repair: Diagnose and fix malfunctions on various factory machinery, including NC and CNC machine tools and controllers, gearboxes, stationary generator sets, and machine accessories. Utilize various types of test equipment.
• Maintenance development: Create and implement maintenance procedures for equipment without existing documentation. Design and build tools to facilitate work.
• Job assignments: Receive and interpret job assignments from data systems, management, or engineers.
• Communication: Review and interpret work orders, technical manuals, and machine operations. Communicate effectively with production employees to identify appropriate repair skills and ensure machines return to production readiness.
• Technical analysis: Interpret drawings, sketches, hydraulic schematics, and specifications to perform preventive and predictive maintenance inspections.
Physical Requirements:
• Frequent (3-6 hours): Exposure to noise, sitting, walking, standing, climbing/balancing, head/neck rotation, flexion (head bent down, head bent back), twisting at the waist, handling/grasping, keyboarding/mouse use, repetitive motion, fine finger manipulation.
• Occasional (1-3 hours): Fine motor skills, lifting less than 10 pounds, sitting, using face, eye, and head protection.
Essential Requirements:
• Experience: 3+ years of experience as a CNC machine repair mechanic, manufacturing building systems mechanic, or general equipment repair mechanic (e.g., pumps, ships, large farming or military equipment).
• Height Requirements: Willing to work at heights up to 125 feet above ground level and pass Fall Protection Training.
• Overtime: Willing to work overtime based on business requirements.
• US Person: This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience: Testing and diagnosing hydraulic, pneumatic, electromechanical components, and test equipment.
• Technical Skills: Reading and interpreting drawings, specifications, material processes, schematics, and diagrams.
• Electromagnetic Fields: Ability to work around electromagnetic fields as a result of various types of production equipment.
Education: High school graduate or GED preferred.
Relocation: This position offers relocation based on candidate eligibility.
Shift: This position is for a variety of shifts, with the ability to work 2nd shift and potentially move to other shifts based on IAM contract and site needs.
