About the Company:

The New York City Housing Development Corporation (HDC) is a public benefit corporation and the nation’s largest municipal Housing Finance Agency. HDC’s mission is to increase the supply of multi-family housing, stimulate economic growth, and revitalize neighborhoods by financing the creation and preservation of affordable housing for low-, moderate-, and middle-income New Yorkers. HDC’s programs focus on the construction and preservation of multi-family affordable housing within New York City.

Job Description:

This is a Loan Servicing Intern position within the Insurance Area at the New York City Housing Development Corporation (HDC) for the Summer of 2025. The internship is located in the Financial District of NYC. The hourly rate is $17.00 for undergraduates. HDC will support the intern’s application for credit or a stipend from their school/university if requested.

Position Summary:

The insurance team monitors that projects serviced by HDC have insurance in place at all times and ensures that premium invoices are paid in time for escrowed projects.

Responsibilities:

• Obtaining evidence of insurance and premium invoices from insurance agents/brokers.
• Scanning insurance certificates into KnowledgeLake.
• Assisting with updating insurance records in Benedict.
• Working with the Loan Servicing Administrators and Managing Agents in case of default.

Required Qualifications:

• Pursuing a BA, BS degree. Open to all majors, but see “preferred qualifications” below for coursework areas most relevant to this opportunity.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Understanding of basic mortgage concepts is helpful.
• Knowledge of Federal, New York State, and New York City affordable housing programs is a plus.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Intermediate coursework in finance, accounting, economics, or public administration.
