Job Description: Live Operations Intern

Job Title: Live Operations Intern

Location: Beaver Dam, KY

Summary of the Role:
Perdue Foods is seeking a hardworking, energetic, self-starter for a Live Operations Intern position. This summer internship program is designed to integrate knowledge acquired in the classroom with meaningful, real-world experiences. The intern will gain familiarity with the workflow of live operations, receiving learning and shadowing opportunities across various live production teams and departments. The internship experience will be tailored to the intern’s interests and experience level to maximize learning. The intern is expected to be fully immersed and actively participate in all aspects of business within Live Operations.

Principal and Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
• Develop an understanding of Live functions, including production processes, animal husbandry, and technical skills.
Manage a project throughout the summer aimed at improving overall live performance or addressing a specific business need relevant to the location.
• Complete weekly assessments to demonstrate learned material.
• Participate in rotations to various facilities, including the hatchery, feed mill, grow out, breeders, and harvest facilities.
• Perform legitimate roles and responsibilities as needed within the business unit.
• Participate in learning events to develop an understanding of the Company, Agri Stats, and soft skills training.
• Must possess a valid State Driver’s License and be approved to drive a Company vehicle.

Minimum Education Requirements:
Required: Must be enrolled in an accredited four-year institution pursuing a bachelor’s degree.
Preferred: Degree in Poultry Science, Animal Science, Agriculture, Agribusiness Management, or Business Administration. A GPA of 3.0 or higher is also preferred.

Qualifications:
Required:
• Must be authorized to work in the United States.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Must be a rising sophomore, junior, or senior currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree.
Preferred:
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to work well within a team setting, as well as independently.
Demonstrated leadership skills and ability to motivate in a team atmosphere.
