Litigation Paralegal | Jackson Lewis P.C.

The Tone:
This is a full-time role at Jackson Lewis P.C., located in Los Angeles. The firm, with over 1,000 attorneys nationwide, focuses on employment and labor law, helping employers develop proactive strategies for high-functioning workforces. This role is essential for supporting attorneys in complex civil litigation, ensuring cases are managed efficiently in state, federal, and administrative venues. The Litigation Paralegal will be key in preparing critical documents and supporting trial efforts, directly contributing to the firm’s legal success.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Case Management: Oversee all facets of civil litigation, proactively tracking progress and ensuring strict adherence to critical deadlines across various forums.
• Document Preparation: Draft initial versions of pleadings, discovery documents, and requests for federal, state, and administrative proceedings.
• Discovery & Production: Identify, organize, and prepare documents for production, including Bates numbering, redactions, and maintaining logs, coordinating with e-discovery for large-scale productions.
• Deposition & Trial Support: Prepare deposition documents and subpoenas, coordinate third-party records, and support trial and arbitration preparation by organizing exhibits and drafting lists.
• Research & Analysis: Conduct legal research using Lexis and PACER, perform background searches, and create detailed case chronologies and timelines.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Compliance with California Business & Professions Code 6450 for paralegal practice, preferably with an ABA-approved paralegal certificate, and current CLE credits.
• Experience: Minimum of 5 years of litigation defense experience in a law firm setting, with a proven track record of meeting billable hour targets and using timekeeping software.
• Skills: Solid understanding of state and federal rules of civil procedure, proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel), and experience with document management systems.
• Bonus: Experience in employment law, familiarity with insurance carrier guidelines, knowledge of Intapp or NetDocuments, and experience with Relativity or other e-discovery platforms.
