What You’ll Actually Do
• Claim Preparation & Submission: Prepare and accurately submit government claim forms along with all necessary supporting documentation, ensuring full compliance with applicable requirements and strict adherence to established deadlines. This includes reviewing claims for accuracy, completeness, and conformity with relevant laws, regulations, and agency guidelines.
• Deadline Management & Case Progression: Proactively track and manage critical Statute of Limitations deadlines to safeguard timely filings and ensure continuous case progression. Meticulously maintain and calendar all crucial deadlines, reminders, hearing dates, and task assignments to support efficient workflow.
• Investigation & Agency Communication: Conduct thorough background, documentary, and factual investigations relevant to party identity, location, and assets, crucial for case development and supporting government claims and litigation strategy. Communicate effectively with government agencies regarding pending, delayed, or denied claims, coordinating appropriate follow-up actions and responding to requests for additional information promptly.
• Litigation Document Preparation: Draft essential initial litigation documents such as summons, complaints, and other ancillary documents, preparing them for attorney review and approval. Coordinate the initial filing of these documents by sending them out to a legal services company for processing.
• Strategy Support & Case Tracking: Collaborate with pre-litigation departments to identify matters suitable for litigation, facilitating an efficient transition and progression of cases. Prepare comprehensive reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing key case-related information, documenting significant developments, identifying potential concerns, and assisting in the development of litigation strategies and overall case plans. Maintain and update case management software to ensure accurate case tracking, thorough documentation, and optimal workflow efficiency.
The Must-Haves
• Background: A Bachelor’s Degree is preferred, or candidates should possess two to four years of directly related experience and/or training in a legal or claims-focused environment.
• Experience: Candidates must have at least 1-3 years of experience specifically within civil litigation, demonstrating the capacity to effectively manage a large volume of cases and multiple cases concurrently.
• Skills: Requires exceptional organizational abilities, strong communication skills for effective internal and external interactions, and a keen attention to detail to ensure accuracy. Proficiency in internet, spreadsheet, and word processing software is essential for daily tasks.
• Bonus: Possession of a Paralegal Certificate is a distinct advantage for this role.
