Litigation Paralegal | MVP Law

The Tone:
This is a full-time role at MVP Law, located in our Kansas City, Kansas office. The firm is actively growing its practice and has been redefining the legal experience and forging its own path since 1901. This position is vital for assisting attorneys with managing billable work, including scheduling, file coordination, and daily organizational needs, which enables them to maximize their effective billable time. The ideal candidate is a curious, intelligent, and creative individual who operates with a high degree of technical proficiency, a strong passion for organization and efficiency, and a solution-oriented approach to challenges. This role requires working both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.

• Mission: This role supports attorneys by handling administrative, organizational, and case-related tasks to ensure efficient management of their billable time.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Case File Management: Oversee the comprehensive management and organization of all case files, including opening and closing procedures, ensuring all documentation is accurately maintained and accessible.
• Legal Document Preparation: Draft a variety of legal documents, including discovery requests and responses, for attorney review, ensuring precision and adherence to legal standards.
• Records and Data Coordination: Proactively request, follow up on, and systematically organize medical records and other critical case data, as well as respond to requests for legal documentation.
• Court Filing and Research: Electronically file documents within the appropriate Kansas City court systems, and conduct necessary research and analysis of case data to support legal strategies.
• Professional Communication & Support: Facilitate clear and effective communication with outside counsel, physicians, court personnel, and other experts, while also meticulously billing time and providing direct support for attorney case-related needs.

The Must-Haves
• Background: An Associate or Bachelor’s degree with expertise in civil litigation or tort practice.
• Experience: At least 5 years of recent experience working in a paralegal role.
• Skills: Superb written and verbal communication skills for interacting with various parties, proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, and a highly organized approach to managing multiple high-priority tasks with excellent time management.
