Litigation Paralegal | Jackson Lewis P.C.

This role is crucial for supporting attorneys in managing complex civil litigation across state, federal, and administrative venues, ensuring cases progress efficiently and deadlines are met. The TL;DR
• Location: In-person, San Diego, CA
• Pay: $50–$60 hourly

What You’ll Actually Do
• Manage: Manage all aspects of civil litigation cases, including proactive tracking of progress and strict attention to deadlines.
• Draft: Draft initial versions of pleadings and discovery documents for matters in federal, state, and administrative forums.
• Coordinate: Collaborate with attorneys and clients to gather necessary materials for discovery responses, motion practice, and depositions.
• Organize: Identify, organize, and prepare documents for production, including applying Bates numbering, performing redactions, and maintaining logs.
• Support: Support trial and arbitration preparation, including organizing and managing exhibits and preparing initial drafts of witness and exhibit lists.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Compliance with California Business & Professions Code 6450 for paralegal practice in CA, with an ABA-approved paralegal certificate highly preferred. Candidates must have current CLE credits or be willing to become compliant.
• Experience: A minimum of 5 years’ litigation defense experience in a law firm setting, preferably in employment law, with a proven track record of meeting billable hour targets. Experience using timekeeping and billing software, along with document management systems, is required.
• Skills: Proficiency in the Windows environment, including Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel, coupled with a solid understanding of state and federal rules of civil procedure. Demonstrated exceptional organizational skills, the ability to manage multiple matters and deadlines simultaneously, and the capacity to apply confidentiality, sound judgment, professionalism, and strong teamwork.
• Bonus: Familiarity with insurance carrier guidelines, knowledge of Intapp, familiarity with NetDocuments, experience in e-discovery platforms including Relativity, and experience with trial/mediation/arbitration preparation, class actions, and wage and hour matters.
