Litigation Paralegal / Legal Assistant | SBS Law, PLC

The Tone:
This is a full-time role at SBS Law, PLC, located in Grand Rapids, MI (On-site with hybrid flexibility). SBS Law is a premier boutique law firm delivering highly tailored, rigorous legal solutions to small and mid-sized businesses, stakeholders, and individuals. Their litigation division, led by Director of Corporate Litigation Todd Stuart, manages sophisticated dockets covering complex commercial disputes, corporate governance, real estate transactions, and general civil litigation. This position is vital for supporting the division’s expansion, requiring a high-caliber, detail-driven professional to maintain precision, analytical depth, and aggressive advocacy across all case phases.

What You’ll Actually Do
Case Management: Maintain absolute order and tracking for complex corporate, commercial, real estate, and general civil files from inception through trial or settlement.
Document Drafting: Prepare high-quality initial drafts of pleadings, motions, answers, discovery requests, subpoenas, and trial briefs for formal attorney review.
Discovery Operations: Manage extensive document productions, including organizing, tagging, indexing, and Bates-numbering voluminous financial and corporate records.
Docketing & Deadlines: Audit court dockets, manage master calendars, and ensure zero missed deadlines across Michigan state and federal jurisdictions.
Trial & Deposition Prep: Construct exhaustive trial binders, organize exhibit lists, coordinate witness subpoenas, and synthesize deposition transcripts.

The Must-Haves
• Background: This role is open to a range of professionals, from ambitious entry-level candidates possessing a strong foundational skillset to seasoned litigation paralegals seeking to execute advanced case management. The position supports complex corporate, commercial, real estate, and general civil litigation.
• Experience: Demonstrated competency in providing methodical and proactive legal support across all phases of the litigation lifecycle, including managing extensive documents and preparing initial drafts of legal filings.
• Skills: Flawless proofreading skills, an uncompromising eye for detail, an analytical approach to file organization, and absolute discretion when handling highly confidential data.
• Bonus: A Paralegal certificate or a formal degree in Paralegal Studies is highly preferred. Direct experience with Clio case management software and prior exposure to filing protocols in Michigan circuit courts and the federal PACER/ECF system are significant advantages.
