Litigation Paralegal | Akerman LLP

The Tone:
This is a hybrid role at Akerman LLP, located in Fort Lauderdale, FL, requiring three in-office days per week. Founded in 1920, Akerman is a premier law firm with over 700 lawyers nationwide. • Mission: To excel in traditional litigation support while embracing emerging technologies, specifically AI and other legal tech tools, to improve efficiency, accuracy, and case outcomes.
• Tech Stack: Westlaw, Lexis, iManage, Relativity, Trial Director, Microsoft Office, AI and legal technology tools

What You’ll Actually Do
• Support attorneys throughout all phases of litigation, including discovery, hearings, and trial preparation.
• Draft and prepare essential legal documents such as pleadings, discovery, subpoenas, and correspondence.
• Manage comprehensive discovery and e-discovery workflows, including document review and production.
• Utilize AI and legal technology tools to enhance research, document review, and overall workflow efficiency.
• Organize and maintain case files, calendars, and deadlines, while preparing deposition summaries, exhibits, and trial materials.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Senior paralegal with 5+ years of litigation experience in a law firm environment, possessing strong knowledge of Florida and Federal Rules of Civil Procedure.
• Experience: Proven experience with litigation support tools such as iManage, Relativity, and Trial Director, coupled with a strong interest in trial support and using technology to improve productivity and legal workflows.
• Skills: Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills, alongside a proactive, detail-oriented, and solution-focused approach.
• Bonus: Prior experience with AI is preferred but not required.
