Litigation Legal Specialist | Google
The Tone:
This is a full-time role at Google, with preferred working locations in Chicago, IL, USA; Austin, TX, USA; or Washington D.C., DC, USA. This role is central to the company’s Legal team, providing specialized support in managing complex litigation. The Litigation Legal Specialist helps manage crucial legal cases that define the information age.

• Mission: This role supports Litigation Counsel in managing complex legal matters and discovery procedures to resolve key cases for Google.
What You’ll Actually Do
• Discovery Management: Assist Litigation Counsel in managing document preservation, collection, review, and production procedures, including evaluating new technologies and vendors.
• Cross-functional Collaboration: Collaborate with Litigation, Discovery, and other Google teams to ensure internal systems work effectively with discovery procedures.
• Document Production Oversight: Supervise document retrieval and document production, coordinating with external legal counsel in litigation matters.
• External Counsel Coordination: Coordinate with external legal counsel on specific assignments, review preliminary advice, and provide internal recommendations.
• Process Improvement & Tooling: Support special project work, including data analytics and tooling development, adopting AI tooling for process improvement and meeting scale challenges.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience, with core domain knowledge in litigation.
• Experience: 5 years of litigation experience with a law firm or in-house legal department.
• Skills: Analytical skills, document review and organization, electronic discovery management, litigation support processes.
• Bonus: 8 years of relevant work experience as a paralegal or legal assistant, including experience with Internet technology, patent litigation, regulatory investigations, and general litigation; Exceptional communication skills and a commitment to professionalism and collegiality; Willingness to lean into ambiguity, new challenges, and problem-solving, including leveraging new tools such as AI.
