Litigation Legal Assistant | D3 Search

The Tone:
This is a full-time, direct-hire role at a highly respected CA-based regional law practice, located in Los Angeles, CA (90071). The firm operates on a tiered hybrid work model, transitioning from fully onsite to a 3 days in/2 days remote schedule over six months. This position is critical for providing comprehensive legal, administrative, and document processing support to multiple attorneys within the public law and litigation practice departments. The role ensures efficient operation and communication for shareholders and senior attorneys with high-volume practices.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Manage attorney communications: Handle phone lines for supported attorneys, field calls, schedule and initiate conference calls, and convey messages to clients, opposing counsel, and courts.
• Prepare legal and administrative documents: Draft agendas, reports, engagement letters, and other necessary legal and administrative correspondence.
• Perform comprehensive administrative support: Process time entries, open new matters, manage reimbursement expenses, maintain attorneys’ calendars, and collate information.
• Maintain and organize legal documentation: Manage both paper and electronic legal files, organize and file documents in designated order, and proofread legal and administrative correspondence.
• Oversee document flow and conduct research: Manage document deliveries, track final executed documentation, and conduct research as needed to support attorney activities.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience is preferred; prior experience supporting litigation and public law attorneys in either a law firm or corporate legal department setting.
• Experience: Substantive Federal and State e-filing experience.
• Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite applications including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook, as well as document management and other office technologies; strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and effective time management; high standards of professionalism, including the ability to maintain confidentiality, use good judgment, and anticipate needs of attorneys.
• Bonus: Appellate experience; knowledge of DocuSign; exceptional computer skills with the ability to learn new software applications quickly.
