Litigation Legal Assistant | D3 Search

The Tone:
This is a full-time role at a highly respected CA-based regional law practice, located in Los Angeles, CA. The firm is actively seeking a dedicated professional to support its public law and litigation practice departments. This role is crucial for ensuring the efficient operation of attorneys’ practices by providing comprehensive legal, administrative, and document processing services. The ideal candidate will thrive in a tiered hybrid work environment, contributing to a collaborative team.

• Team: Supports four or more attorneys (shareholders & senior attorneys)
• Mission: Provides a wide range of legal, administrative, and document processing services in the public law & litigation practice departments.
• Tech Stack: Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook), DocuSign, document management, other office technologies

What You’ll Actually Do
• Manage: Oversee communications, including phone lines, scheduling conference calls, and conveying messages, for supported attorneys and liaisons.
• Process: Handle administrative tasks such as time entry, opening new matters, drafting engagement letters, and processing reimbursement expenses.
• Prepare: Draft, keyboard, proofread, and process a variety of legal and administrative documents, including agendas, reports, and correspondence.
• Organize: Maintain and organize legal files, both physical and electronic, ensuring documents are filed in designated order and tracking final executed documentation.
• Coordinate: Provide comprehensive administrative support, including making reservations, maintaining calendars, conducting research, and collaborating with team members.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Preferred Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience, with a background supporting litigation & public law attorneys in a law firm or corporate legal department setting.
• Experience: Substantive Federal & State e-filing experience is required, with prior experience in a business law practice with exposure to litigation & public law areas.
• Skills: Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite applications, document management, and other office technologies, coupled with exceptional computer skills for learning new software. Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, effective time management, and the ability to maintain high standards of professionalism and confidentiality.
• Bonus: Knowledge of DocuSign is preferred; appellate experience is a plus.
