What You’ll Actually Do
• Attorney Support: Provide direct and comprehensive support to a team of 2-3 attorneys who are actively managing cases within both state and federal court systems, ensuring their needs are met for various litigation tasks.
• Document Preparation: Accurately prepare a variety of critical legal documents, which includes drafting pleadings, creating professional correspondence, and compiling discovery requests, all essential for case progression.
• Calendar Management: Effectively manage and maintain the calendars for multiple attorneys, taking responsibility for coordinating and scheduling important depositions, client meetings, and internal firm gatherings.
• Court Filings: Precisely file legal documents with the appropriate courts, whether state or federal, and diligently track to ensure strict adherence to all established filing deadlines and procedural requirements.
• Administrative Tasks: Execute a range of general administrative and office support duties, contributing to the smooth and efficient operation of the Wheaton office environment.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Possess a minimum of 2 to 4 years of hands-on experience specifically within the field of insurance defense litigation, demonstrating a clear understanding of its unique processes and demands.
• Experience: Exhibit proficiency in utilizing core office software such as Microsoft Office applications and demonstrate expertise with specialized legal document management systems vital for legal operations.
• Skills: Showcase strong organizational abilities and multitasking skills, coupled with excellent written and verbal communication, the critical ability to handle all confidential information with the utmost discretion and professionalism, and knowledge of Illinois court procedures.
• Bonus: Prior professional experience specifically as a legal assistant or working within a law firm setting is considered a valuable preferred qualification.
