Litigation Legal Assistant | D3 Search

The Tone:
This is a full-time, direct-hire role at a highly respected CA-based regional law practice, headquartered in Los Angeles, CA. The firm provides legal services across various practice areas, and this role is crucial for delivering comprehensive legal, administrative, and document processing services to litigation and public law attorneys. The Litigation Legal Assistant ensures the efficient operation of high-volume practices, supporting shareholders and senior attorneys in their legal work.

The TL;DR
• Role: Support Staff
• Type: Full-time/direct-hire, 37.5-hour week, Non-exempt
• Location: Hybrid, Los Angeles, CA. The firm offers a tiered hybrid work model, starting fully onsite for 30 days, transitioning to 4 days in/1 day remote for the next 30 days, and then 3 days in/2 days remote after six months.
• Pay: $105000 yearly
• Team: Supports four or more attorneys (shareholders & senior attorneys) in the public law & litigation practice departments.
• Mission: Provide essential legal, administrative, and document processing support to litigation and public law attorneys.
• Tech Stack: Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook), document management systems, e-filing platforms, DocuSign (preferred)

What You’ll Actually Do
• Communications Management: Manage attorney phone lines, field calls, schedule conference calls, and communicate with clients, opposing counsel, and courts.
• Document Preparation: Prepare agendas, reports, and other legal documents, as well as draft, keyboard, enter, proofread, and process legal and administrative correspondence.
• Administrative Coordination: Process time entry, open new matters, draft engagement letters, audit responses, make reservations, process expense reimbursements, and maintain attorneys’ calendars.
• Information Organization: Maintain both paper and electronic legal files, organize and file documents in designated order, manage document deliveries, and track final executed documentation.
• Research & Collaboration: Conduct research as needed and collaborate with team members to provide assistance when time permits.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Prior experience working in a business law practice with exposure to litigation & public law areas, supporting litigation and public law attorneys in a law firm or corporate legal department setting. Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience is preferred.
• Experience: Possess substantive Federal & State e-filing experience, with appellate experience being a plus. Demonstrated computer proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite applications and document management technologies.
• Skills: Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to manage time effectively. High standards of professionalism, including maintaining confidentiality and using good judgment. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a positive attitude for team collaboration.
• Bonus: Knowledge of DocuSign. Exceptional computer skills with the ability to quickly learn new software applications.
