What You’ll Actually Do
• Case File Management: Maintain comprehensive case files, meticulously organizing both electronic and hard copy documents to ensure instant accessibility and compliance with firm and court standards.
• Document Drafting: Draft various legal documents, including precise correspondence, critical court filings, and other legal paperwork, requiring attention to detail for attorney review and approval.
• Pleading Filing: File pleadings efficiently and accurately in both state and federal courts, adhering strictly to procedural rules and deadlines to keep cases moving forward.
• Preparation Support: Provide essential assistance with all aspects of deposition and trial preparation, coordinating logistics, compiling exhibits, and preparing materials vital for legal proceedings.
• Trial Team Participation: Potentially serve as a key member of the trial team, offering direct, real-time support to attorneys during courtroom proceedings and contributing to the successful presentation of cases.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Possesses a foundational college degree (preferred qualification) and holds crucial civil litigation experience specifically within a defense setting, demonstrating a robust understanding of complex legal processes, terminology, and strategic approaches essential for handling the firm’s sophisticated matters.
• Experience: Requires a minimum of 3–5 or more years of dedicated experience as a legal assistant, showcasing a proven track record of effectively supporting legal teams and managing the demands of high-stakes, fast-paced litigation environments.
• Skills: Exhibits strong communication skills necessary for clear interaction with attorneys, clients, and court personnel; demonstrates a consistently detail-oriented approach to all tasks; is proactive in anticipating legal team needs and case requirements; and proficiently manages multiple critical deadlines in a busy legal practice without compromising quality.
