What You’ll Actually Do
• Calculate and Disseminate Deadlines: Independently review legal documents and litigation correspondence to accurately calculate, record, and disseminate docket dates according to applicable court rules and procedures, verifying jurisdiction and relevant authorities.
• Manage Docketing System Entries: Accurately enter all calculated deadlines for firm litigation matters into Milana, the firm’s litigation docketing platform, after verifying and adjusting for federal, state, statutory, agency, and local rules.
• Support Litigation Teams: Provide proactive support to litigation teams by coordinating with docketing attorneys, responding to inquiries regarding docketed events and court rules, and preparing and distributing regular docket reports.
• Ensure Quality and Compliance: Quality review personal work product according to internal department protocols, demonstrating sound judgment for escalating questions, and promoting firm docketing policies to ensure compliance with department procedures and best practices.
• Improve Processes: Assist with research regarding court rules for assigned jurisdictions, present findings thoroughly to case teams, and contribute suggestions to the Litigation Docketing Manager for enhancing efficiency and minimizing risk in docketing procedures and workflow.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Professional with a thorough understanding of litigation docketing processes within a law firm environment, including demonstrated knowledge of the litigation lifecycle and familiarity with federal and state court procedural rules.
• Experience: A minimum of 3 years computing deadlines in federal, state, and agency court jurisdictions, specifically utilizing rules-based docketing systems.
• Skills: Strong analytical, organizational, communication, time management, and technical skills, coupled with a highly motivated and proactive approach, keen attention to detail, and excellent customer service abilities, requiring the capacity to multi-task and work under pressure to meet strict deadlines.
• Bonus: Prior experience with Milana, the firm’s litigation docketing platform, is preferred.
