The Tone:
This is a Litigation Docket Clerk position at Morgan, Lewis & Bockius LLP, offering a hybrid in-office/remote working schedule across several North American locations including Boston, Century City, Chicago, Los Angeles, New York, Orange County, Philadelphia, Seattle, San Francisco, Silicon Valley (Palo Alto), and Washington D.C. This role is vital for providing dedicated support to the firm’s comprehensive litigation practice, ensuring attorneys and staff have accurate, up-to-date calendaring and deadline information to uphold the firm’s legal obligations and operational excellence.

• Mission: Maintain the firm’s litigation docket system by tracking court deadlines and information for lawyers and staff across multiple courts and jurisdictions.

What You’ll Actually Do
• System Maintenance: Maintains the firm’s docket system for litigation lawyers practicing in multiple courts and jurisdictions.
• Information Gathering: Obtains filing information from court clerks and online dockets.
• Calendar Preparation: Identifies pertinent deadlines and prepares master calendar of due dates for distribution to lawyers and staff.
• Research Support: Researches questions from attorneys, paralegals, and/or secretaries regarding deadlines, calculations of deadlines, and local rules.
• Request Management: Responds to requests regarding calendared events, pleadings, court procedures, and modifications to compliance dates on the docket calendar.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Candidates should possess a high school diploma or equivalent; a Bachelor’s degree is preferred. A strong foundational understanding of court docketing and calendaring procedures is highly valued, along with familiarity with court filings and general rules of court at the federal, state, and county levels.
• Experience: A minimum of one year of experience in litigation calendaring or docketing is desired. Prior experience within a large law firm environment is particularly preferred for this role. Flexibility to work overtime is also required.
• Skills: Essential skills include excellent written and oral communication, strong proofreading abilities, exceptional attention to detail, and a collaborative team player mindset with strong interpersonal skills. The ability to build relationships, prioritize tasks effectively, balance competing demands, and meet deadlines in a professional environment is crucial. Proficiency with Microsoft Office is also required.
• Bonus: Familiarity with CompuLaw or comparable docketing software is a plus. Candidates should also demonstrate an ability to quickly adapt to new software programs.
