AI Agent Development Project Intern (TikTok Shop Governance and Experience) – 2026 Start (BS/MS) | TikTok

The Tone:
This is a project internship at TikTok, located primarily in Los Angeles, California, with a required commitment of at least six months. TikTok operates as the leading destination for short-form mobile video and its Global E-commerce Governance and Experience (GNE) team ensures a safe and trustworthy marketplace. This role is crucial for developing and optimizing AI Agent models to enhance regulatory compliance and improve user and seller experience on the platform.

The TL;DR

• Team: Global E-commerce Governance and Experience (GNE) team
• Mission: Support the development and optimization of Prompt Engineering (PE) models for Regulatory Compliance & Prohibited Product programs.
• Tech Stack: Excel, SQL, Large Language Model Interaction, Prompt Testing

What You’ll Actually Do
• Prompt Engineering: Collaborate with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to design, test, and refine prompts for AI models used in compliance decision-making.
• Quality Evaluation: Evaluate AI output quality against defined accuracy metrics to ensure effective compliance.
• Data Management: Clean, prepare, and annotate datasets for AI model training and validation processes.
• Program Support: Support the classification and verification of products for various compliance programs, including prohibited products and recalls.
• Performance Reporting: Use tools like Excel or SQL to create performance dashboards for compliance model accuracy and summarize weekly progress.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Currently pursuing or recently completed a Bachelor’s or Master’s in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, Business Analytics, Compliance, or a related field.
• Experience: Familiarity with AI/ML concepts and natural language processing.
• Skills: Proficient communication, skilled at coordinating multiple collaborating parties, data analysis, large language model interaction, prompt testing, Excel, and SQL.
• Bonus: Experience in E-commerce.
