Job Description: Life/Health Actuarial Intern
Overview and Purpose:
This internship offers an opportunity to join State Farm’s Life/Health Actuarial Department. Interns will complete innovative and meaningful project work in a collaborative environment designed to develop both technical and business skills, complementing their academic learning. The program emphasizes training, mentorship, and leadership opportunities.
Key Responsibilities:
Interns will provide analysis and solutions through:
• Assessment of risk and financial needs for insurance products.
• Development of innovative methods and applications to enhance insurance product pricing.
• Research on company and emerging industry trends and “hot topics.”
• Extensive training programs, mentoring programs, and leadership opportunities.
Qualifications:
State Farm is looking for college students who meet the following criteria:
• Majors: Actuarial Science, Math, Statistics, Data Science, Computer Science, Information Management, or other analytical fields.
• GPA: 3.5 preferred; 3.25 minimum required.
• Experience: With data and statistical analysis in Excel, SQL, R, and/or Python.
• Actuarial Designation: Intention to earn the ASA/FSA designation.
• Actuarial Exams: Successful completion of at least one Society of Actuaries actuarial exam.
• Skills: Strong communication, interpersonal, organization, leadership, and critical thinking skills.
Internship Program Eligibility:
• Must be a full-time student currently enrolled in
