Legal Writer, Litigation | Price Benowitz LLP

The Tone:
This is a full-time, fully remote role at Price Benowitz LLP, open to candidates based anywhere in the United States. Price Benowitz LLP operates as a mid-sized law firm headquartered in Washington, DC, with a significant presence through offices across Washington, DC, Maryland, Virginia, South Carolina, Florida, and Illinois. This role is crucial for supporting the growing Personal Injury Practice Group. The Legal Writer will provide essential support by drafting persuasive litigation materials, conducting vital legal research, and collaborating closely with attorneys. This position directly contributes to effective litigation strategy and case development, ensuring complex legal concepts are translated into concise, impactful written content.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Draft Litigation Materials: Draft and meticulously revise a variety of litigation materials, which include motions, complaints, detailed discovery requests and responses, comprehensive legal memoranda, and persuasive briefs.
• Conduct Legal Research: Perform in-depth legal research using specialized platforms such as LexisNexis and other similar research tools to support ongoing cases and develop legal arguments.
• Ensure Document Compliance: Review, proofread, and meticulously edit all legal documents to ensure clarity, accuracy, and full compliance with specific jurisdiction-specific court rules and precise formatting requirements.
• Collaborate on Strategy: Work closely with attorneys to actively support and contribute to overall litigation strategy and the comprehensive development of each case.
• Manage Workload and Deadlines: Efficiently manage multiple writing assignments and adhere to strict deadlines within a busy legal environment, consistently translating complex legal concepts into concise, persuasive written materials.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Ideally, candidates will possess a JD degree or an equivalent legal qualification. This role requires familiarity with core litigation procedures and a strong grasp of legal terminology pertinent to various legal contexts.
• Experience: A minimum of 4 years of professional experience specifically in legal writing, litigation support, or a closely related legal field is required, demonstrating a proven ability to handle legal documentation.
• Skills: Strong legal research and analytical writing skills are essential, along with demonstrated experience in applying Bluebook citation standards. Candidates must also exhibit strong organizational skills, meticulous attention to detail, and excellent written and verbal communication abilities. The role requires handling confidential information appropriately, including awareness of AI-related confidentiality considerations.
• Bonus: Preference will be given to candidates with existing knowledge of personal injury litigation across Maryland, Virginia, and/or Washington, DC. Prior experience utilizing SmartAdvocate or similar case management software is also highly desirable.
