What You’ll Actually Do
• Legal Document Drafting & Review: Draft and file legal documents such as briefs, complaints, motions, subpoenas, and summonses using firm templates, then perform complex cite checking and proofreading to ensure accuracy and clarity.
• Discovery Process Management: Support the entire discovery process by preparing for depositions, drafting and responding to written discovery requests, and assisting with expert discovery preparation.
• Case & Document Organization: Manage and conduct extensive document reviews, prepare documentation for criteria changes, track review progress, report results, and establish organized physical and electronic filing systems.
• Trial Preparation & Coordination: Assist comprehensively with trial preparation, including creating trial notebooks, identifying and organizing exhibits, coordinating witness schedules, and maintaining trial calendars.
• Administrative & Scheduling Support: Manage scheduling and travel arrangements for court appearances, depositions, and meetings, maintain attorney calendars, process reimbursements, and handle various administrative tasks like billing entry and mail management.
The Must-Haves
• Background: This is an experienced role requiring a comprehensive understanding of litigation procedures, deadlines, and the specific laws, legal codes, and court rules for assigned practice groups, including State and Federal court e-filings.
• Experience: Requires at least 5 years of litigation experience, preferably gained within a large law firm environment, coupled with established knowledge of FINRA, JAMS, and AAA procedures, as well as electronic filing systems.
• Skills: Exceptional organizational abilities, attention to detail, analytical and critical thinking skills, advanced written and verbal communication, and the capacity to work effectively under pressure to meet strict deadlines. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite applications (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook) is essential.
• Bonus: A preferred understanding of securities or financial litigation, and a foundational grasp of artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities, limitations, data privacy, accuracy, verification, and ethical considerations, along with a proactive approach to learning new technologies.
