What You’ll Actually Do
• Document Preparation: Draft and prepare legal documents and correspondence, including pleadings, motions, discovery, subpoenas, and contracts, under attorney direction.
• Case File Management: Maintain and organize both electronic and physical case files for attorneys.
• Calendar & Deadlines: Monitor deadlines and manage attorney calendars for trial, discovery, and other key events.
• Court Procedures: Perform e-filing in Texas state and federal courts, including using PACER.
• Litigation Support: Coordinate hearings, depositions, and trial settings, and manage subpoena responses and discovery requests.
The Must-Haves
• Background: High School Diploma or equivalent required, with strong knowledge of civil litigation processes and terminology.
• Experience: Minimum 3+ years of experience as a Legal Secretary in civil litigation defense, with proficiency in Texas state and federal court filing procedures, including e-filing.
• Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint), ability to transcribe legal dictation and accurately proofread documents, and strong organizational, communication, and critical thinking skills.
