What You’ll Actually Do
• File Management: Maintain and update electronic case files, adhering to firm protocols for easy search and retrieval.
• Document Preparation: Prepare and revise a variety of legal documents, including correspondence, pleadings, discovery submissions, and arbitration/mediation documents for agency, state, and federal matters.
• Calendar and Compliance: Manage attorney calendars, monitoring deadlines, and assist with bar admissions and Continuing Legal Education (CLE) needs.
• Financial Administration: Process monthly expense reports for assigned attorneys and collaborate with the billing department on client invoicing.
• Administrative Support: Coordinate travel arrangements, prepare notebooks, proofread documents, and initiate conflict checks for new client engagements.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Mid-level professional with a preferred Associate Degree or 4-year college degree, or relevant experience, specializing in legal support.
• Experience: Minimum 3 years of legal experience, with a preference for employment law. Proficient in ECF and California state e-filing systems, and experienced with document database systems like Netdocs.
• Skills: Strong verbal and written communication, excellent proofreading skills, and a detail-oriented work ethic. Ability to multi-task efficiently while maintaining quality and meeting deadlines. Robust interpersonal skills for collaboration within a busy litigation team.
• Bonus: Familiarity with state and federal rules and procedures, general legal procedures, and billing (e.g., InTapp) and expense (e.g., Concur) reporting software. Experience supporting 4+ active attorneys and trial preparation is a strong plus.
